Why Don't Employees Report Peer Misconduct (And What Can We Do About It?)

In this presentation, Dr. Eric Shaw will describe the factors that lead employees to under-report misconduct or concerning behaviors in organizations and will identify individual characteristics and organizational dynamics that impede reporting. Dr. Shaw will explain how the psychological process of moral disengagement can become a mechanism between individuals and organizations that reduces reporting and increases insider risk. The presentation will conclude with practical recommendations for organizations to reduce barriers and facilitate the creation of a culture of reporting.
